What is right for me?

When you think of putting on fitness clothing, what do you think about? “Does my butt look good in these?” or how about, “Can I get to the gym without anyone seeing me?”. Either way, you feel judged. Positive or negative, it will run through your mind. But what if it didn’t matter? What if we change the way people feel or care about what we wear? That may not happen, but what CAN happen is the way YOU feel and view yourself. Really anytime fitness clothing should be an option, we should be able to wear fitness cloths that make use feel strong, powerful, happy, and ready for anything.

What is right for me?

If you put on your current fitness attire, do you feel ready to get sweaty and work hard? Are you a yoga fanatic, ready to get Zen? Do you even think about how those clothes make you feel? What is right for you? What is right for me? If you aren’t sure what types of fitness activities you want to get involved in, then lets take a look at some options.

  • Yoga

Chakras- learning about the chakra system and different poses to get yourself in tune.

Kundalini- a wonderful blend of spiritual and physical practices.
Hot Yoga- a great way to sweat out your toxins with a temperature anywhere from 85 degrees to 105 degrees Fahrenheit.
These are just a few I have listed. There are a multitude of different Yoga styles. What would one typically wear when practicing Yoga? Typically you would want to wear leggings, or spandex stretch pants. You may want to wear shorts or lose fitting fitness pants. If a woman, you would want to have a sports bra, maybe a tank top over that. Something that will allow you to move with ease and stretch.

 

  • Weight Training

This is a very important step for weight loss. Lifting weights can aid in muscle growth as well as help with weight loss. Building muscles burns fat. You can also get lean muscles by lifting weights. The whole concept of “if I lift weights, I will get bulky” is more of a myth since it is a key factor to weight loss. Unless you take steps to “bulk up”, you won’t need to have that as a deterrent.

In order to “bulk up” you would need to consume a large amount of calories and follow a regimen for bulking up. So let that myth go and get into weight lifting.

Types of weight lifting can give you different outcomes, lets take a look at a few and see what would be best for the results you might want.

Bodybuilding- This is more for bulking up, training one muscle group per session. Doing 8 – 12 rep sessions and going up in weight.

Powerlifting- This is great for wanting to gain strength. Powerlifters aren’t concerned about looks, they are more concerned with brute strength. These are the people you see pulling trucks or tractors. Being able to lift cars, all about the strength.

Circuit Training- This type of training is different weights that you would do a specific amount of time on each machine or stage. For example, if you are doing a circuit for lower body, you would do squats, leg lifts, and bench press. You would do more repetitions such as 20 on each set and maybe 2 to 3 sets. This is a great way to lose weight.

  • Cardio

Cardio is a great way to lose weight. However, did you know that doing cardio without strength training can actually cause you to lose fewer calories than you think? You need to add strength training in order to build lean muscle. This is a huge key in loosing those extra pounds that have been hanging around. But don’t get me wrong, cardio is a great way to get healthy. Not only is it great for your heart, it helps build endurance.

What are some benefits to adding cardio?

Heart Health- The saying goes if you don’t use it you lose it. Same goes for your heart. When you move faster, your heart gets going. You need to keep this muscle moving and in good shape to have better health and longevity of life.

Endorphins- those great little mood boosters we all need to improve our mental health. Cardiovascular exercise causes our brains to release wonderful endorphins. Something we all need to keep a positive out look and maintain better mental health.

Weight loss booster- Cardio workouts are a great way to boost the weight loss process.

To have great health and build muscle, incorporating multiple different types of exercise can aid in better health as well as better fat loss. Build lean muscles and tighten and tone our physic.

Always remember that we are all different and that is what makes us special. Strive to better your health and mental state and accepting your body is the best way to boost self-confidence and improve your outlook on life.
